Need to register and complete your new Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA)?

In order to register with the NSLSC you will need to confirm your identity and complete your MSFAA online.

Please have the following information available:

  1. Bank account information (Transit, Institution and Account numbers)
  2. Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  3. MSFAA # (this is a ten digit number). If you did not receive this number, please contact your province or territory
  4. Date of Birth

What You'll Need to Register

First-time users must register to gain access to the NSLSC On-Line Services.

The registration process confirms your identity with the NSLSC and ensures that only you are granted on-line access to your loan account information.

In order to complete your registration, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Your First Name
  • Your Last Name
  • Your Social Insurance Number
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your Loan Account Number or Registration I.D.

You will find your loan account number or Registration I.D. on your Welcome letter and other NSLSC correspondence.If you need help identifying these numbers in your correspondence, samples are provided on the registration page to help you.

If you do not have a copy of your loan account number or Registration I.D., please call our office at the number provided on the Contact Us page.

Learn How to Register

It may take you up to five minutes on-line to complete your NSLSC On-Line Services registration. Once your registration is complete, you will be able to view and change your contact information with the NSLSC.

You will also be able to review loan account information for any Canada Student Loan negotiated on or after August 1, 2000, any Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan or Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated Student Loan negotiated on or after August 1, 2001, and Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Integrated Student Loans or Canada-New Brunswick Integrated Student Loans (if you were in school on July 31, 2000 and/or received additional funding on or after August 1, 2000) and any British Columbia Student Loans received after August 1, 2000 and Canada-British Columbia Integrated Student Loans negotiated on or after August 1, 2011.

Note: You will need to contact your Financial Institution at the number provided on CanLearn.ca for information on any provincial/territorial student loans (including Ontario and Saskatchewan Student Loans received before August 1, 2001, and Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick Student Loans in repayment on July 31, 2000), and for Canada Student Loans and British Columbia Student Loans received before August 1, 2000.

Registering for NSLSC On-Line Services is composed of four steps.

1. Verify your identity

In order to verify your identity, you will need to enter:

  • Your First Name
  • Your Last Name
  • Your Social Insurance Number
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your Loan Account Number or Registration I.D.

Forgot Your Password or Username?

If you forget your Password, you may create a new one on–line. Once you have correctly answered the three secret questions you selected at registration, you can create a new password.

If you forget your Username, you can retrieve it via E-mail. For privacy and security reasons, the NSLSC will only send the Username to the personal E-mail address associated with your account.

Security

The security of the NSLSC On-Line Services depends both on the NSLSC and you, the user.

The NSLSC

The NSLSC is committed to providing you with secure on-line services.

The NSLSC uses sophisticated security techniques to protect this Web site and the data transmitted. State-of-the-art encryption technology and security procedures protect your personal information at all times.

The NSLSC On-Line Services use 256-bit AES encryption with TLS 1.2 to protect your information. This type of encryption is one of the most secure form of encryption available worldwide. It protects information by verifying the identity of the parties on both ends of the Internet connection before confidential information is exchanged.

Note

Although the NSLSC has taken extensive measures to ensure that NSLSC On-Line Services transactions are safe and secure for users, the Internet is a public domain and is therefore beyond the NSLSC's control.

The User

As a user of the NSLSC On-Line Services, you must fulfill certain responsibilities to contribute to the security of your transactions.

  1. You must ensure that your password is secret. If you believe that your Password has been stolen or compromised, call our office at the number provided on the Contact Us page immediately to revoke your access to the NSLSC On-Line Services.

  2. You must be responsible for clearing the cache and closing and re-opening your browser after signing out of the NSLSC On-Line Services. This will ensure that personal information about your transactions will not be saved on your computer's hard-drive. You should clear your disk cache and delete your temporary Internet files before closing and re-opening your browser. For instructions on how to do this complete an internet search for “how to clear cache in [insert your browser name here]”.

  3. You should not include sensitive personal information in e-mail messages, such as your Social Insurance Number, personal finances, medical or work history. Due to the unprotected nature of the Internet, enquiries containing this type of information cannot be answered through e-mail and are best addressed in person, over the telephone or by ground mail.

  4. You must use a browser that supports 256-bit encryption and is JavaScript-Enabled. Please visit the Help page of this Web site for more information about these technical requirements and to find out if any adjustments need to be made to your browser settings.

Hours of Service

The NSLSC On-Line Services operate 21 hours a day, seven days a week.

This service is not available 24 hours a day due to daily maintenance activities. Even if you are already in the NSLSC On-Line Services, any information you submit after hours will not be accepted.
